New York City in March
Earlier this month we took a trip to New York City. Some would say that New York is the Greatest City in the World. Those who disagree haven’t seriously considered the question. (For what it’s worth, I consider Chicago to be the Second Greatest City in America).
From the right side of the plane, we had a pretty neat view of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. We stayed in an AirBnB about a block from the park in Park Slope. Cool neighborhood. Reminds us of Logan Square in Chicago – a quieter retreat from the busy-ness of the city. Lots of families.
The catalyst for the trip was a friend’s baby shower. Those friends live in DUMBO – “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”. They’ve got a pretty great view from their building.
The shower was at a friend-of-our-friends’ apartment in Brooklyn Heights. They’ve got a pretty great view from their living room.
On Sunday we grabbed lunch at Brookfield Place, across from the World Trade Center.
Then we made our way to Rockefeller Plaza where this dude owned the rink.
We were told that the “Top of the Rock” is the best view in town. “You can go to the top of the Empire State Building, but then you don’t get a view of the Empire State Building.”
We stayed in town a couple extra days for work stuff, then headed home.
