Brad Lander

Ricky Robinett and I are cohosting a fundraiser for Brad Lander's Mayoral campaign on Thursday December 12 in Brooklyn Heights. Brad will be there along with a bunch of folks from NYC's tech scene to talk about why he's running for mayor.

You can make a contribution and RSVP here.

Brad Lander was my city councilman in Brooklyn. I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard him speak and started to follow his efforts. He's always struck me as kind, thoughtful, nuanced, nerdy, and principled.

Back in 2020, the world felt like a pretty dark place. I wanted to do something to make a difference, but felt like any involvement in national politics would be just a drop in the bucket. Then I saw Brad was running for Comptroller and thought that maybe I could make an impact in an obscure local election. It's surprising how far a contribution goes in local politics – especially since NYC matches 8x.

I made a modest ($X00) contribution to Brad's campaign. A few days later he called me on the phone, chatted for a bit, and asked for more money... and he's sort of been calling ever since. 🤣

Unfortunately, that's how the system works. Candidates need money to run campaigns. But playing a small part in getting a good, competent man in charge of the city's finances felt pretty good. Now Brad's running for mayor. Based on his time as councilman and comptroller – and from the handful of interactions I've had with him over the last few years – I think Brad's a great candidate.

I'm excited to offer an opportunity for you to meet Brad and decide for yourself. If you'd like to meet him, use this link to make a contribution to the campaign and join us on December 12 in Brooklyn Heights.

Here's a few photos from when Ricky and I got coffee with Brad a few months back and showed him some magic tricks.
